How long have you been a funeral arranger?
I have been a funeral arranger since July 2024. Prior to this, I have worked with animals, children, and retail management. This role appealed to me because I have always been drawn to empathetic situations where I can help others in their time of need.
What do you like about being a funeral arranger?
While I love the amazing people I work with, what I enjoy most about being a funeral arranger is being able to take a lot of the stress and pressure off the families I am supporting. At the end of the funeral arrangement meeting, the majority of families will actually say "We can feel a huge weight has been lifted off us". By doing this, it can allow the families more time to be with their loved ones during what could be one of the toughest times of their lives. I also like to be able to put their minds at ease, knowing that we are giving their person the farewell they deserve.
What do you like about your local area?
The natural beauty of Moss Vale and surrounding locations is absolutely stunning. I love that it's a very close community and we all like to support each other. The locals get to know you and before you know it, you have people just dropping in to see how your weekend was!
What organisations does your brand/location support in your area?
Southern Highlands Funerals currently sponsors Southern Highlands Football Club, and we have also sponsored the Moss Vale Show. We are always happy to support our wonderful community in any way we can.
What makes your brand special?
For me, it’s the people I work with. Some of us have more experience than others, but we are all sharing the same goal – to care for the people in our care, and their families who love them dearly. We all understand that each goodbye is different, and we want to do whatever we can to support the families in providing a dignified and personalised farewell.
What makes your branch stand out?
We are located on Argyle Street which is a perfect spot to connect with our local community and get to know people. We have a car park on site which makes it easier for families to find a car space when they are arranging or attending a funeral. We also have a beautiful chapel on site which seats 50 people comfortably, where we can hold funerals with audio and visual equipment included.
What do you like about being a funeral arranger?
I love the fact that I have the honour of assisting a family at a very difficult time in their lives and help them send off their loved one with grace and dignity.
What do you like about your local area?
I love the Southern Highlands and in particular the village feel of Moss Vale. It has the best of everything, a country feel within easy reach of the city and the beaches. I love the chilly weather and the mists that roll through Mossy.
What made you want to become a funeral director?
As a naturally very organised person, it may have been destined for me, even though I stumbled into the industry. I am keen to make the role my own and bring care and empathy to the community I live in.
What are your passions/hobbies outside of work?
I have a love of art and antiques and can be found fossicking the numerous vintage emporiums in the Highlands. I am also a keen skier in the winter, love hiking and being in nature. If I get to do it with family and friends, even better!
What makes your brand special?
I feel we have a home baked, country feel here in the Southern Highlands. Where we are proud to be called "local".
